KOTRA Supports Entry of 'K-Juryu' into Australia's Largest Liquor Distribution Network
[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] KOTRA announced on the 27th that it is conducting a project to support entry into the Australian distribution network in collaboration with Australia's largest liquor distribution company, Endeavour Drinks. Endeavour Drinks is a large-scale liquor distribution chain with annual sales of AUD 9.28 billion (approximately KRW 8.03 trillion) last year and is also included among the global top 5 companies.
Recently, in Australia, the preference for Korean food has been increasing due to the rise in Asian immigrants and the Korean Wave. In response, KOTRA planned this project by capturing the demand from local liquor distribution companies wishing to expand their lineup of Asian products.
In February, KOTRA recruited promising domestic liquor manufacturers and sellers aiming to enter the Australian market and, together with Endeavour Drinks, selected 15 companies in the first round. On this day, a tasting event for the selected domestic companies' products was held at the Endeavour Drinks headquarters, and after further review, the final companies to be listed will be selected within the year.
Korean liquor products that have undergone a thorough verification process will be displayed and sold at liquor specialty stores across Australia operated by Endeavour Drinks, such as Dan Murphy's and BWS. Additionally, KOTRA plans to support entry into other distribution networks for products that have market potential but were not selected this time.
