Won Hee-ryong Meets Kim Jong-in: "People Power Party Must Now Embrace 'Self-Directed Learning'"
Meeting with Kim Jong-in in Jeju-do to Discuss the Future of the People Power Party
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jun-yi] Won Hee-ryong, Governor of Jeju Province and a leading presidential candidate of the People Power Party, recently revealed that he met with former People Power Party Emergency Committee Chairman Kim Jong-in in Jeju to discuss the party's future direction. He emphasized the need for "self-directed learning" when referring to the People Power Party after Kim's resignation.
On the morning of the 27th, Won appeared on CBS Radio's "Kim Hyun-jung's News Show" and said, "Former Chairman Kim came to Jeju last weekend" and "He was worried that the People Power Party should not continue like this."
He added, "Kim was very distressed seeing the current situation, hoping that figures and forces capable of capturing the public sentiment would become the center of the People Power Party, but seeing how things are going now, he was very troubled about how that would actually happen."
When asked if he thought Kim should return to regain the party's center, Won replied, "It's a matter of methodology," and pointed out, "The People Power Party has over 100 members of the National Assembly and 58 active first-term lawmakers, so it needs to focus on self-strengthening."
He continued, "How long should parents keep looking back and tutors keep giving lessons?" and reiterated, "Now it is time for self-directed learning."
