On this day, Superintendent Jang received a report from Suncheonnam Elementary School officials on the stock status of quarantine supplies, personnel utilization, and academic operations, and urged, "Given the seriousness of the recent situation, please strengthen the intensity of COVID-19 response and quarantine measures."
Additionally, the day before, he held an emergency video conference connecting the superintendents of education from 22 cities and counties, ordering an increase in the intensity of COVID-19 quarantine measures.
Superintendent Jang instructed, "Since the period from the 21st of last month to the 11th of next month is designated as the 'School Quarantine Special Week' for three weeks, raise the prevention system and environmental management within schools, guidance on life inside and outside of school, and quarantine of academies and private institutes to the highest level."
Accordingly, the Provincial Office of Education plans to effectively promote on-site school quarantine by operating a 'quarantine responsibility control' system at the headquarters and at each of the 22 city and county education support offices.
At the headquarters, the superintendent will serve as the person in charge, and at the education support offices, the local education superintendents will take responsibility, operating the COVID-19 quarantine system more thoroughly and swiftly.
Superintendent Jang said, "Amid the difficult times caused by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, the Jeonnam education field is protecting children's health and right to learn through everyone's cooperation and participation," and requested, "Please maintain heightened vigilance and thorough quarantine measures so that academic operations can proceed normally."
