Seoul Guro Police Station - Korea Cybersecurity Association Sign Business Agreement on Youth Cybercrime Cooperation

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Kim So-young] On the 20th, the Seoul Guro Police Station (Chief Im Kyung-woo) and the Korea Cyber Security Association (Chairman Kim Hyun-geol) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for "Cybercrime Prevention Education and Victim Support for Youth."
This MOU was promoted to conduct education for crime prevention and fulfill public social responsibilities such as victim support, based on the expertise of both organizations regarding current issues related to cybercrime targeting youth.
Attending the MOU signing ceremony held in the afternoon were Chief Im, Police officials including Kim Jae-jung, Head of the Women and Youth Division, and the heads of both organizations such as Kim Hyun-geol, Chairman of the Korea Cyber Security Association, and Secretary General Jo Jun-gyu. The event was conducted in strict compliance with quarantine rules to prevent COVID-19 infection.
Chief Im, who hosted the event, emphasized the police's responsibility to protect residents safely from various crimes and to create a safe society where socially vulnerable groups are protected.
Chief Im also stated that through this MOU, the Guro Police will fulfill its duty to proactively respond to cybercrimes targeting youth, who are a representative socially vulnerable group, and become the safest social community respected and loved by the public.
Secretary General Jo Jun-gyu, who will be in charge of the practical work, emphasized that the MOU allows for highly practical consultation on prevention and victim support regarding cybercrimes targeting youth.
This MOU, which strengthens cooperation in each other's specialized fields, is expected to enhance the effectiveness of responding to and preventing evolving cybercrimes targeting youth. Accordingly, it is anticipated to greatly contribute to improving the expertise of both organizations and strengthening their responsibilities as public social institutions.
