The special committees formed that day are two committees focused on the highly anticipated issues in the local community: the “Support Special Committee for Attracting the Suncheon University College of Medicine” and the “Special Committee for the Successful Hosting of the 2023 Suncheon Bay International Garden Expo.”

In the “Support Special Committee for Attracting the Suncheon University College of Medicine,” Councilor Lee Hyun-jae was elected as chairman, Councilor Jang Sook-hee as vice-chair, and a total of nine members including Councilors Kim Byung-kwon, Lee Bok-nam, Oh Haeng-sook, Na An-su, Choi Byung-bae, Park Hye-jung, and Park Jong-ho will be active until the end of February next year.

View original imageThe “Special Committee for the Successful Hosting of the 2023 Suncheon Bay International Garden Expo,” scheduled to be active until the end of June next year, elected Councilor Kang Hyung-gu as chairman and Councilor Oh Kwang-mook as vice-chair, with a total of nine members including Councilors Moon Kyu-jun, Seo Jung-jin, Park Gye-su, Jeong Hong-jun, Lee Young-ran, Kim Mi-yeon, and Park Jae-won participating.
Councilor Lee Hyun-jae, elected as chairman of the “Support Special Committee for Attracting the Suncheon University College of Medicine,” stated, “The Suncheon City Council has previously conducted special committee activities twice (in 2014 and 2017) to attract the Suncheon University College of Medicine. This newly launched special committee will also explore various measures to ensure the college is attracted as soon as possible so that residents of the eastern Jeonnam region can receive high-quality medical services.”

Councilor Kang Hyung-gu, elected as chairman of the “Special Committee for the Successful Hosting of the 2023 Suncheon Bay International Garden Expo,” said, “Since the successful hosting of the expo in 2013, we will consolidate all the wisdom and capabilities accumulated over the past 10 years to ensure another successful event. Through the activities of this special committee, we will work with the 290,000 citizens of Suncheon to make the 2023 Suncheon Bay International Garden Expo a leading model project of the Korean Green New Deal and devise policy support measures.”
