Jeonnam Province Announces Public-Private Collaboration Platform Agenda Contest for Solving Regional Issues
Applications Accepted Until the 23rd
[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Province announced on the 14th that it is accepting applications for the ‘2021 Regional Problem-Solving Platform Implementation Agenda,’ a project where the public and private sectors collaborate to solve regional issues, until the 23rd.
The Regional Problem-Solving Platform is a public-private collaborative problem-solving method that departs from the traditional government-led, budget-focused approach by having the private sector take the lead, with support from the government and local governments, and linking resources from public institutions and companies.
Last year, based on cooperation between residents and local communities, the province discovered and is promoting 27 implementation agendas, including ▲support for agricultural management practice for non-successor young farmers ▲voluntary marine debris collection campaigns by local residents and fishermen ▲creation of flower gardens in old downtown areas using recycled alley trash.
This year, to ensure sustainability and expansion, recruitment is divided into new agendas and continuing agendas, and about 15 projects will be promoted through expert consulting and review by the steering committee.
There will be about nine new agendas. Six projects from last year’s agendas, which were evaluated as excellent cases such as ‘support for installing safety handrails to prevent falls in the homes of elderly living alone,’ will be promoted as continuing agendas.
After holding the ‘2021 Agenda Declaration Agreement Ceremony’ in June, the agenda will be actively carried out, and excellent cases will be shared through a performance sharing meeting in September.
Starting this year, participation in the Regional Problem-Solving Platform project will be newly reflected in the ‘Government Public Institution Management Evaluation Index,’ and active participation and support from public institutions located in innovation cities are expected.
Residents, organizations, or public institutions interested in social innovation can check the application methods on the Jeonnam Province website’s notice section or the Jeonnam Social Innovation Platform website’s announcements, and submit the application form and plan by email.
Son Jeomsik, Director of the Jeonnam Provincial Autonomous Administration Bureau, said, “In the With-Corona era, exchanges, collaboration, and strengthening of communities among residents will play a major role in solving regional problems,” and added, “Since residents lead this, even if there are some trial and error, we will actively support efforts to achieve results with a spirit of challenge and experimentation without giving up.”
