[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Songpa-gu (Mayor Park Seong-su) participated in the 'National Relay Challenge to Overcome Low Birthrate.'
The low birthrate overcoming challenge is a citizen participation campaign that started last February in Chungcheongnam-do, aiming to actively join efforts to create a "Korea that works together, cares together, protects together, and is happy together" to overcome the national crisis caused by low birthrate.
Mayor Park Seong-su of Songpa-gu, who joined the challenge upon the nomination by Kim Cheol-hoon, Mayor of Yeongdo-gu, Busan, nominated Lee Seong, Mayor of Guro-gu, Seoul, as the next participant in the relay.
Mayor Park Seong-su stated, "It is time to reduce the burden of childbirth and parenting and focus our capabilities on creating a child-friendly environment," adding, "We will do our best to make Songpa a great place to raise children by expanding childbirth support and resolving care gaps."
