Seoul City to Open Big Data Analysis 'Online Cloud Campus' in May... Customized Education by Skill Level
Customized Education by Level Expanded to Beginners and Public Institutions... Increased Information Accessibility and Usability
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 12th that it will operate the ‘Big Data Cloud Campus’ in May, which allows people to learn big data analysis technology online anytime and anywhere by utilizing public data from the ‘Big Data Campus.’
While the educational programs of the ‘Big Data Campus’ existed before, they were only conducted offline. From now on, through an online site, people will be able to learn data analysis and utilization methods without being restricted by location or time. It is expected to enhance citizens’ access to and use of information. The ‘Big Data Cloud Campus’ education will be provided on the existing Seoul Smart Campus website operated by the Seoul Digital Foundation.
Along with the opening of the online campus, Seoul will also expand the target audience and courses for the Big Data Campus education this year. In addition to the existing expert-level education, new customized courses for beginners and public institutions will be introduced. The number of courses will increase from the existing 10 to a total of 18, including data processing education.
In particular, this year, data processing education will be newly established for students and experts in related fields preparing for the MyData era. Data analysis education using Seoul’s spatial information will also be newly developed in collaboration with universities and introduced in the second half of the year.
Furthermore, Seoul will expand the ‘Big Data Campus University Branches’ that collaborate with universities. For universities wishing to open branches, Seoul will provide the same analysis environment as the main Big Data Campus and support technologies to prevent data leakage. Currently, there are four branches (University of Seoul, AI Yangjae Hub, Seoul Institute, Seoul Technology Research Institute).
Through the Big Data Campus branches, universities can analyze, utilize, and teach 312 types of data such as resident population, card sales, living finance, and transportation cards for free as part of their curriculum. Universities interested in opening branches can inquire through the Big Data Campus website. Any university that secures a separate independent space for data security and has on-site operational personnel controlling access can apply.
