Former Nurse Who Put 'Detergent' in IV Fluid... Fired for 'Working Under the Influence' and 'Unauthorized Absence'
[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Midam] Former nurse A, who caused controversy by putting detergent into the IV drip of a patient sharing the same hospital room, is reported to have caused problems such as drinking and drug theft during her five years working as a nurse.
On the 11th, 'Channel A' reported that although A worked at hospitals for nearly five years, it was rare for her to work at a hospital for more than a year.
According to the report, A has a history of being arrested by the police for drunk driving last year, which led her to quit a general hospital in Chungbuk just four days after starting work. It was also reported that six days before her arrest, she was found collapsed in front of the medical staff dormitory in a drunken state and was taken to the emergency room.
In 2018, she was fired from a general hospital in Gyeonggi Province for coming to work intoxicated and for unauthorized absences.
Regarding this, a colleague nurse of A said, "(A) came in completely drunk. Since she was too intoxicated to work, we told her to go in and rest. There were times she did not come to work at all."
Additionally, even after being fired from the hospital, A was caught secretly stealing psychotropic drugs while wearing a nurse's uniform. It is reported that she took the drugs claiming they were to be administered to patients.
Meanwhile, the Daejeon Dongbu Police Station arrested A on the 8th on charges of special injury and sent her to the prosecution.
A is suspected of putting bathroom detergent into the IV drip of another patient B in a six-person hospital room at a hospital in Dong-gu where she was hospitalized around 10 p.m. on the 20th of last month.
After witnessing A putting something into her IV drip, B’s hand became swollen and she felt severe pain. She immediately called a nurse and received emergency treatment. B is currently receiving treatment including hemodialysis at the hospital.
