Weekend and Holiday Mornings Below Freezing in Some Areas... Daily Temperature Range Over 15 Degrees
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] This weekend and holiday will see a temperature difference of more than 15 degrees Celsius between day and night, with morning temperatures in some areas expected to drop below freezing.
The Korea Meteorological Administration forecasted on the 9th that morning temperatures across most regions nationwide will remain around 5 degrees Celsius until the 11th.
On the 10th, areas such as eastern Gyeonggi, inland and mountainous regions of Gangwon, inland Gyeongbuk, parts of Chungbuk, and eastern Jeonbuk are expected to experience subzero temperatures in the morning. On the 11th, inland and mountainous regions of Gangwon and inland Gyeongbuk are forecasted to remain below freezing.
In regions where temperatures near the surface drop below freezing, frost and ice formation are expected, so special attention should be paid to crop management to prevent cold damage.
Daytime temperatures on the 10th will be above 15 degrees Celsius in most parts of the country, with some areas in the Seoul metropolitan area, Chungnam region, and Jeolla region rising close to 20 degrees Celsius. However, the eastern coast of Gangwon and the eastern coast of Gyeongsang will remain cool around 15 degrees Celsius due to easterly winds.
On the 11th, daytime temperatures are expected to rise 2 to 3 degrees higher than on the 10th, with central inland areas, western Jeolla, and inland Gyeongbuk reaching above 20 degrees Celsius, and other regions above 15 degrees Celsius.
Since the temperature difference between day and night will be more than 15 degrees Celsius in most inland areas nationwide, the Korea Meteorological Administration emphasized caution to prevent weakened immunity due to temperature changes.
The expected morning low temperatures by region on the 10th are between 1 and 9 degrees Celsius, with daytime highs ranging from 13 to 20 degrees Celsius. On the 11th, morning lows are expected between 2 and 10 degrees Celsius, and daytime highs between 16 and 23 degrees Celsius.
In Seoul, some inland areas of Gyeonggi, southern Gangwon Yeongseo, some inland Chungcheong regions, eastern Jeolla, western inland Gyeongsang, and Jeju Island, where dry weather warnings have been issued, the air is very dry, so caution is needed to prevent various fires such as wildfires.
With generally clear weather continuing until the 11th, the air will gradually become drier in other regions as well, increasing the possibility of expanding dry weather warnings.
