With this graduation, 2,592 officers from the open recruitment and 99 officers from the experienced recruitment completed eight months of training and will take their first steps as police officers at frontline security sites such as district police stations and patrol offices.
The graduation ceremony was held with the attendance of the Commissioner General of the National Police Agency, the Chairperson of the National Police Commission, the Chief of the National Investigation Headquarters, the President of the Central Police Academy, and 17 graduates, considering COVID-19 prevention guidelines. The event was broadcast live through the official YouTube channel of the National Police Agency, and 235 police stations where the graduates belong also watched the broadcast simultaneously to conduct the graduation ceremony.
In particular, graduates from 49 representative police stations participated in the event by using the online video conferencing program Zoom to jointly recite the service oath and pledge for human rights policing, and to deliver their graduation remarks.
The Commissioner General’s Award was presented to the top 1st and 2nd place (6 people) in overall grades from the three courses of male and female open recruitment and experienced recruitment, and the President of the Central Police Academy’s Award was given to the top scorer (6 people) in shooting and martial arts for each course.
Sergeant Kwak Ja-rang, recipient of the Commissioner General’s Award in the experienced recruitment (victim psychology field), expressed, "I am grateful to have safely completed the training despite the national crisis caused by COVID-19, and I will become a reliable colleague and a warm-hearted police officer." Park Ji-young, President of the Central Police Academy, urged the graduates through her speech to "continuously build expertise as ‘security experts’ strong in the field by learning professional knowledge and making relentless efforts."
