Jeonnam Province Holds Event to Commemorate the 49th Health Day
[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Province announced on the 7th that it held a commemorative event under the theme "Overcoming COVID-19 Together, A Healthy Republic of Korea for All" at the Mokpo Citizens' Culture and Sports Center to mark the 49th Health Day.
Health Day is a legal commemorative day established to raise public health awareness and encourage workers in the health, medical, and welfare fields.
The event was attended by Song Sang-rak, Vice Governor of Jeonnam Province; Kim Jong-sik, Mayor of Mokpo; presidents of the Jeonnam Medical Association and Nursing Association; president of the Mokpo Pharmaceutical Association; directors of medical centers in Mokpo, Suncheon, and Gangjin; and heads of city and county health centers, totaling about 100 health and medical officials.
Additionally, to prevent the spread of COVID-19, a non-face-to-face online method was introduced, allowing about 200 health care workers from 22 cities and counties to participate via video conference.
The commemorative ceremony began with the screening of a theme video titled "Health Care Workers Responding to COVID-19," which conveyed the efforts and hopes of health care workers to overcome COVID-19 during the infectious disease pandemic and restore a mask-free daily life.
Following this, awards were presented to health care workers who contributed to improving public health and promoting health among residents, live interviews were conducted with medical personnel working in vulnerable areas such as public health doctors on hospital ships, heads of health clinics in remote islands, and medical staff at infectious disease-dedicated hospitals, and a COVID-19 overcoming performance was held.

Vice Governor Song said, "I thank the health care workers who silently worked on the front lines of COVID-19, risking infection," and added, "To resolve the imbalance of medical resources and protect the health of Jeonnam residents, it is essential to establish a medical school in Jeonnam, so let us all work together."
