Removing Undergrowth and Paving Paths... Iksan Toseong Restoration
"Offers a comprehensive view of Saturn"
The Cultural Heritage Administration and Iksan City announced on the 7th that they have refurbished the Iksan Earthen Fortress as part of the preservation and management project for the core relics of the Baekje royal capital. After establishing a maintenance plan in May last year, they exposed and revealed some of the stone walls remaining around the West Gate site and removed underbrush inside and outside the fortress. They also maintained the walking trail around the fortress, the parking lot, and the path leading up to the fortress.
An official explained, "With the underbrush that obstructed the view removed, it is now possible to overlook the entire appearance of the earthen fortress located at the summit of Ogumsan (125m)." They added, "To the north, you can see Mireuksan and Mireuksaji, to the east Yonghwasan, to the west the Ungpo area, and to the south the Wanggung-ri site, all at a glance."
