View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Dobong-gu (Mayor Dong-jin Lee) is calling for proposals for the 2022 Resident Participation Budget Project from April 1 to May 31.
Any resident of Dobong-gu can submit a resident proposal.
The "Resident Participation Budget System" is a system where residents directly propose and review projects to participate in the budget formulation process, thereby increasing the transparency and democracy of the district budget and realizing participatory democracy.
The scale of the 2022 Resident Participation Budget Proposal Project is 1 billion KRW larger than the previous year, totaling 1.8 billion KRW.
This year, to further activate the Resident Participation Budget System, the district has prepared ▲ online education for the Resident Participation Budget School ▲ introduction of a deliberative budgeting system ▲ operation of a Resident Participation Budget website.
The call for proposals covers projects that benefit all residents, including ▲ improvement of residents' welfare ▲ resolution of inconveniences in daily life ▲ revitalization of the local economy ▲ local issues and long-standing projects ▲ resident life-oriented projects. Projects closely related to residents' convenience and daily life are eligible. However, projects with a maximum budget of 300 million KRW per project, event-type projects such as festivals, facility operating expenses, and projects supporting specific individuals or organizations are excluded from selection.
Residents wishing to participate can apply through the Dobong-gu Resident Participation Budget website or visit their local community service center or the Sustainable Development Division at the district office.
Proposed projects received through the call will undergo feasibility review by related departments, evaluation by the Resident Participation Budget Committee, and mobile voting by residents, with final selection at the Resident Participation Budget Committee general meeting at the end of July this year.
Meanwhile, as part of the 2020 Resident Participation Budget Projects, a total of 46 projects were selected and implemented, including ▲ installation of heating cables on steep slopes for winter snow preparation ▲ installation of solar-powered LED lights in dark alleys ▲ repair of children's park facilities, which received great response from residents.
For the 2021 Resident Participation Budget Projects, a total of 47 projects are being selected and implemented, including ▲ creation of walkable school routes ▲ creation of rest areas in Choan Mountain Ecological Park ▲ installation of shading facilities in children's parks.
Mayor Dong-jin Lee of Dobong-gu said, "Resident Participation Budget has great significance in terms of resident autonomy and fiscal democracy as residents propose, select, and execute their own issues," and added, "Through this call for proposals for the Resident Participation Budget Project, we ask for active participation and innovative ideas from residents to improve inconveniences in daily life and revitalize the local economy."
