Mokpo City Announces 2021 First Half Year Water Tank Cleaning Schedule
369 Apartment Complexes and Buildings Must Be Cleaned by June
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seung-hyun Jeong] Mokpo City, Jeollanam-do, has announced the cleaning of water storage tanks (water tanks) for the first half of the year to ensure hygienic tap water supply.
On the 6th, the city stated, "There are 369 legally designated water storage tanks (water tanks) in apartment complexes and buildings within the region."
A city official emphasized, "Generally, water storage tanks should be cleaned regularly at least once every six months, and it is advisable to conduct the first half cleaning by June, which is the optimal time considering the increase in water temperature and the proliferation of algae."
Owners or managers of apartment complexes and buildings subject to water storage tank cleaning must submit the cleaning results and supporting documents to the city's Waterworks Division via a return postcard and keep them for two years.
In particular, building owners must request and conduct water quality tests at a water quality testing agency at least once a year for safe and hygienic management of tap water. After cleaning the water storage tank and refilling it with water, residual chlorine, pH (between 5.8 and 8.5), and turbidity must be checked.
