Chosun University Museum Hosts Lecture and Experience Program 'Walking Through the Memories of Bitgoeul'
Cultural Lectures Held from April to November
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] Chosun University Museum will conduct the program "Bitgoeul, Walking Through Memories," which allows participants to experience Gwangju's past and present through lectures and hands-on programs, starting from the 8th.
Chosun University Museum was selected for the "2021 University Museum Promotion Support Project," hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and organized by the Korean University Museum Association. Under the theme "Bitgoeul, Walking Through Memories," free lectures and experiential programs by experts in various fields will be held from April to November for university members and citizens.
This program will feature cultural lectures under the themes of ▲Gwangju literature from the perspective of writers (April) ▲Memory and space of Gwangju (May) ▲Art and culture of Gwangju (September) ▲Stories of Gwangju figures (October).
The first lecture on the 8th will be given by Professor Kim Hyeongjung of the Korean Language and Literature Department at Chosun University, discussing "May 18 and Korean Novels." On the 15th, Professor Lee Dongsun from the Department of Liberal Arts at Chosun University will lecture on "Modern Literature of Gwangju," and on the 22nd, Professor Jeong Myeongjung of the Honam Culture Research Institute at Chonnam National University will present a lecture titled "Gwangju in the 1980s and the May Poetry Movement." The venue is the Education Room of Chosun University Museum (Seoseok Hall, 2nd floor), and the schedule and location may change depending on the COVID-19 situation.
In July, an experiential event called "Comma at the Museum" will be held, featuring diverse artistic activities such as cup making, bead crafts (mask straps), animal mural painting, and silk screening, linked with "Culture Day."
Kim Seonghan, director of Chosun University Museum, said, "This will be an opportunity to access cultural knowledge through lectures on humanities, arts, and culture related to Bitgoeul Gwangju, and through various experiences, it will serve as a chance to intimately incorporate culture into everyday life."
