Jangseong-gun Implements Intensive Management for High-Risk Suicide Groups
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Jo Hangyu] Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 6th that it has designated the period until next month as an intensive suicide prevention management period and will conduct focused management for high-risk groups of suicide.
Every spring is a high-risk period when suicide rates increase, and with the added depression caused by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, suicide has emerged as an even more serious social issue this year.
Accordingly, the Jangseong-gun Public Health Center is strengthening suicide prevention promotional activities by posting banners guiding the Suicide Prevention Counseling Hotline (1393) and distributing 'Help Institution Information' posters.
They plan to enhance the capacity to identify individuals at risk of suicide by conducting Life Keeper training at the health sub-centers in towns and townships. In addition, they will provide close management such as continuous welfare checks and counseling for high-risk residents.
Furthermore, psychological counseling activities for those in self-quarantine will be promoted to reduce depression caused by COVID-19.
