[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Jongno-gu (District Mayor Kim Young-jong) has been awarding well-maintained houses with carefully tended various spaces within single-family, multi-family, and multi-unit homes since 2014.
This year as well, the '8th Jongno-gu Well-Maintained House' is being selected to contribute to creating a natural-friendly and beautiful community and to foster a bright neighborhood where neighbors live together. Applications have been accepted since the 15th of last month.
The criteria include ▲houses with various spaces well maintained with flowers and trees ▲houses providing visual interest through creative designs reflecting local characteristics ▲houses with outstanding landscapes harmonizing with the surrounding environment.
Houses previously selected as well-maintained can also reapply.
Applications and recommendations can be made by homeowners, managers, or neighboring residents.
The method is to submit photos showing the overall view, front, and side of the target house along with the application form by visiting the Residential Regeneration and Housing Environment Improvement Team or by sending them via email to the person in charge (cherlv333@mail.jongno.go.kr) by June 11.
The district plans to conduct on-site inspections in June, finalize the selection of well-maintained houses through a review committee in July, and hold an awards ceremony and exhibition of works in August and September.
For more detailed information regarding applications, please refer to the notice board on the Jongno-gu Office website or contact the Residential Regeneration Division directly.
Meanwhile, last year, Jongno-gu also selected and awarded the '2020 Well-Maintained House' contributing to the expansion of green spaces in the urban area.
The grand prize was awarded to the house at ‘Bukchon-ro 12-gil 20-8,’ which was praised for its landscaping using hanok (traditional Korean houses) and roof tiles, creating a warm and comfortable scenery fitting for Jongno.
