[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] As of 11 a.m. on the second day of the 'April 7 By-election Early Voting,' the nationwide average turnout rate was recorded at 12.55%.
According to the National Election Commission, as of 11 a.m. on this day, out of 12,161,624 registered voters nationwide, 1,526,794 participated in early voting. The early voting rate at 11 a.m. on the second day of the 2018 local elections was 11.97%.
The early voting rate at the same time exceeded that of the previous local elections, drawing attention to whether the final early voting turnout will surpass 20.14% (2018 local elections).
In the Seoul mayoral election, 1,025,971 people participated, recording a 13.28% early voting rate, while in the Busan mayoral election, 343,687 people participated, recording 11.70%.
