Hyundai's Ambitious Project 'Genesis' Officially Launches in China
[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] Hyundai Motor's luxury brand 'Genesis' has officially launched in China.
The Genesis brand (hereafter Genesis) held the 'Genesis Brand Night' at the Shanghai International Cruise Terminal on the 2nd, officially announcing the brand launch targeting the Chinese luxury car market.
The event, held for key local figures and media in China, was hosted by Markus Henne, head of Genesis China, and featured congratulatory remarks from Jang Jae-hoon, president of the Genesis brand, and a design explanation by Lee Sang-yup, executive director in charge of Genesis design, presented via video. Actual vehicles such as the G80 and GV80 were also displayed on-site, attracting high interest from attendees.
President Jang Jae-hoon stated, "Today marks the new beginning of Genesis's bold journey," adding, "We are pleased to introduce the luxury brand Genesis to Chinese customers who seek differentiated value."
Markus Henne, head of the corporation, said, "As a luxury automobile brand, Genesis has gained recognition in the United States, Canada, Australia, Russia, the Middle East, and other regions," and added, "The launch in China will be another chapter in the expansion of the Genesis brand."
On this day, Genesis also held a commemorative event where over 3,500 drones were flown over the Huangpu River in Shanghai, displaying the brand logo, vehicles, and design direction in three dimensions.
Hyundai Motor will first target the Chinese luxury car market by leading with representative brand models such as the large luxury sedan G80 and the large sport utility vehicle (SUV) GV80.
The G80 is a symbolic model that led to the birth of Genesis, and the GV80 is the brand's first SUV model; both models have received favorable reviews in the global market.
Previously, Genesis participated in the 3rd China International Import Expo (CIIE) held at the Shanghai National Convention and Exhibition Center last November, unveiling the two models and attracting high interest from Chinese customers.
Genesis plans to focus all its capabilities on providing differentiated, customized customer services unique to Genesis.
Genesis will open the 'Genesis Studio Shanghai' this month, where sales and brand experiences are available simultaneously. Customers can receive one-on-one service here and experience a differentiated purchasing process.
Additionally, Genesis plans to sell vehicles at the same price across all purchasing channels throughout China in accordance with the 'Genesis One Price Promise.'
