Seo Jeong-hyeop Acting Mayor, Early Voting for 'Seoul Mayor By-election' at Sogong-dong Community Center
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] Seo Jeong-cheop, Acting Mayor of Seoul, voted on the morning of the 2nd at the Sogong-dong Early Voting Station (4th floor of Sogong-dong Community Center) near Seoul City Hall, as the early voting for the 'April 7 Seoul Mayor By-election' began.
Following the voting station's quarantine rules, Acting Mayor Seo underwent a temperature check and hand sanitization before wearing sanitary gloves. After identity verification, he received the ballot paper and cast his vote.
Acting Mayor Seo emphasized, "Thorough quarantine management is crucial to ensure that this election held during the COVID-19 pandemic does not become a turning point for a resurgence of the virus," and added, "Seoul City will do its best to ensure that all citizens can exercise their precious vote in a safe environment. We will cooperate with the 25 autonomous districts to meticulously manage everything from voting station disinfection to preemptive testing of election staff and citizen behavioral guidelines."
To create a safe election from COVID-19, Seoul City is implementing safety measures at 424 early voting stations and 2,259 main voting stations. At the voting stations, voters must follow quarantine rules such as temperature checks before entry, wearing sanitary gloves, and maintaining a 1-meter distance. Those with fever symptoms will vote at a separate booth within the voting station.

To guarantee voting rights for confirmed patients and those in self-quarantine, Seoul City has established and operates 'special early voting stations' at five residential treatment centers, including Namsan Youth Hostel, and will relax movement restrictions on asymptomatic self-quarantined individuals only on the voting day.
