Kang Seon-woo: "Oh's Words Are Nonsense"
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] Ruling party lawmakers have launched an all-out pressure campaign regarding O Se-hoon, the People Power Party candidate's self-compensation related to Naegok-dong. Although there are testimonies claiming they saw O at the Naegok-dong land surveying site in 2005, O denies this. In particular, ambiguous remarks such as "one must be humble before memory" have become kindling. Ruling party lawmakers are strongly pushing for a clear answer to the question, "So did you go or not?"
The person who fired the starting signal for the "Naegok-dong relay" was Representative Jeong Cheong-rae.
According to political circles on the 1st, Jeong posted on Facebook the previous evening, saying, "I am starting the Naegok-dong relay," along with a video about 10 seconds long.
Jeong said, "There is testimony that someone appeared at the Naegok-dong surveying site wearing white pants and sunglasses and even ate saengtaetang (fresh fish soup), but this is being denied," adding, "Did you go to Naegok-dong? Did you not? I will be the originator of this relay."
He then proposed, "Please create a roughly 10-second video with the phrase 'Did you go to Naegok-dong? Did you not?' and post it on your Facebook. When nominated, nominate two people each to continue the relay."
After posting a 7-second video asking O, "Did you go to Naegok-dong? Did you not?" Representative Jeong nominated fellow party members Lee Su-jin and Kang Seon-woo as the next participants.
Representative Lee, who was nominated by Jeong, immediately posted a video with the same content on Facebook, saying, "I will join the relay." Lee previously criticized O, saying, "Despite testimonies and repeated statements, he insists he did not go to the surveying site," and added, "Whether out of a shred of conscience or to evade legal scrutiny, he tagged on 'I will be humble before memory'."
Lee nominated Representatives Jang Gyeong-tae and Yoo Jeong-ju for the next relay. Both also joined the relay via Facebook that day.
Along with Lee, Representative Kang Seon-woo, who was also nominated, criticized O's Naegok-dong issue through a statement from Park Young-sun's campaign.
"My father-in-law definitely went. But even my father-in-law cannot remember who went with him. He clearly says he did not go. My eldest brother-in-law definitely went. My father-in-law remembers, but my eldest brother-in-law does not remember the younger brother-in-law going. The younger brother-in-law remembers briefly going. Since this happened 16 years ago, observing such conversations about people's memories, I also definitely did not go. I have no memory of it,"
Kang said, referring to O's additional explanation during yesterday's Kwanhoon debate about "being humble before memory." He harshly criticized, "What kind of nonsense is this?"
He criticized, "Is this some kind of nonsense quiz asking 'Who went to survey the Naegok-dong land?' to the ten million citizens of Seoul?" and pointed out, "They keep going around in circles, appeal emotionally claiming unfairness, intimidate by calling legitimate verification a conspiracy, and threaten to investigate brave testimonies."
