SKT and Dongyang Launch Subscription-Based Smart Factory Solution 'Metatron Grandview'
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] SK Telecom is launching a subscription-based smart factory solution based on artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud technology that enables smart management of environmental facilities in factories.
On the 1st, SK Telecom announced that it signed a "Partnership Agreement for Promoting Smart Factory Business" with Dongyang.
Dongyang is the leading industrial blower manufacturer in Korea. Industrial large blowers are used in various applications in the steel, metal, and chemical manufacturing sectors, including ▲air supply for boilers ▲ventilation in tunnels ▲air injection for power generation fuel injection ▲dust collection in chemical processes ▲grain and powder transportation ▲exhaust in incineration processes.
The two companies initiated this collaboration to improve difficulties encountered during the operation and maintenance of factories that have introduced blowers by utilizing AI and cloud technologies. The core of this cooperation is attaching vibration and current sensors and LTE Cat.M1 modems to motors and bearings, which are key components of blower facilities, and remotely connecting them to SK Telecom’s 'Metatron Grandview' service.
Metatron Grandview is a smart factory solution developed in-house by SK Telecom based on AI and cloud servers, provided as a monthly subscription service. It offers services such as ▲real-time monitoring ▲alarms for abnormal conditions and early signs of equipment failure ▲maintenance record keeping and database creation ▲AI analysis modeling. Through an affordable subscription service, it is expected to contribute to reducing operational personnel and resolving issues such as defect repairs in factories that have introduced blower facilities.
Dongyang plans to commercialize optimal temperature, vibration, and current sensors related to industrial blower facilities along with PLC data collection devices. It will also provide consulting for equipment such as motors connected before and after blower processes and share know-how for constructing large environmental facilities such as incinerators.
Since October last year, the two companies have been installing and linking the Grandview service to large blowers and motors at Dongyang Plant’s Yesan factory in Chungnam, and are currently stabilizing and advancing the service.
