Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants Launches ESG Committee... "Supporting Corporate ESG Activities"
[Asia Economy Reporter Ji-hwan Park] The Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants (KICPA) announced on the 31st that it has launched an ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) Committee.
The KICPA ESG Committee is composed of 15 members from the accounting industry, related organizations, companies, and academia. A kickoff meeting was held via video conference on the 30th. The committee chairperson is Byung-rae Lee, Vice Chairman of External Cooperation at the Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
The KICPA ESG Committee aims to reflect the expectations of various stakeholders such as investors, companies, and academia toward the accounting industry to enhance the reliability of ESG-related corporate reporting and disclosure. It plans to support ESG activities in the accounting industry, including corporate reporting, disclosure consulting, measurement and evaluation, and information certification. To this end, the committee will focus on training ESG experts, discovering improvement measures for related laws and systems, and developing certification standards.

With the launch of the KICPA ESG Committee, we will actively support enhancing the ESG expertise of accountants and improving the reliability of ESG-related corporate reporting."
