62 Energy-Specialized Companies Selected for the First Time... Local Tax Reduction and Subsidy Benefits Offered
[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Joo Sang-don] The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced on the 30th that it has selected 62 companies as the first energy-specialized enterprises.
Energy-specialized enterprises are designated as companies that reside in convergence complexes and have an energy industry and energy-related industry sales ratio of 50% or more of their total sales.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy comprehensively evaluated the technological level and management capabilities of 84 applicant companies and selected 62 companies this time.
The industries of the selected energy-specialized enterprises include high-efficiency equipment manufacturing, power system manufacturing and construction, solar material components, energy software, secondary battery material components, and radiation fields. The average sales amount is about 13.5 billion KRW, and the number of employees is 42.
Energy-specialized enterprises are granted benefits such as ▲local tax reduction ▲an additional 2 percentage points in the support rate for local investment promotion subsidies and facility subsidies ▲preferential points for Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy research and development (R&D) projects.
In addition, the government is promoting amendments to the Energy Convergence Complex Act, which includes preferential provisions such as special cases for national and public property, priority purchase by public institutions, tax support, and employment subsidies.

An official from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy said, "Energy-specialized enterprises will contribute to the revitalization of energy industry convergence complexes," adding, "We will continuously promote support projects such as demonstration research, professional manpower training, and commercialization promotion for energy-specialized enterprises, and considering the demand of companies within the energy convergence complexes, we plan to start additional selection of energy-specialized enterprises in the second half of this year."
