Korea Commission on Human Rights Recommends Employment Restrictions for Sexual Offenders at Delivery App Companies
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] If there is a history of sex crimes, it is expected that the path to employment at delivery agency companies will be blocked in the future.
On the 29th, the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission held a plenary meeting and announced that it concluded there is a need to prohibit ex-convicts who have committed sex crimes or violent crimes from being employed by delivery agency companies.
This measure comes in response to the recent increase in complaints expressing concerns about sex crimes committed by delivery agency drivers.
Last month, a delivery driver who exposed his genitals to a woman and fled in an officetel in Seoul was caught by the police. It is difficult for ex-convicts to be employed as courier drivers who require a transportation business worker license. However, there are currently no employment restrictions for delivery agency services that do not require registration or permits.
The Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission plans to notify related ministries, including the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, to promptly prepare improvement measures.
