10 Uzbek Nationals in Their 20s Staying in Accommodation in Jeungpyeong Confirmed Positive
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] On the 29th, 10 confirmed COVID-19 cases were reported in Jeungpyeong, Chungcheongbuk-do.
According to Chungbuk Province and Jeungpyeong County, a man in his 20s, A, a Uzbek national residing in Jeungpyeong, tested positive for COVID-19 on the morning of the same day.
A is a student at a university in the Seoul metropolitan area and underwent testing the day before due to suspicious symptoms. A lived with 10 acquaintances in their 20s of the same nationality at a lodging in Jeungpyeong. Following A's positive diagnosis, tests were conducted on these individuals. As a result, 9 of them tested 'positive' by 9 p.m. that day. Among the additional confirmed cases, 5 showed abnormal symptoms such as coughing and headaches.
They are known to have lived together while attending universities in other regions or working part-time jobs. Patients who were waiting at Jeunggusan Recreational Forest in Jeungpyeong before testing are scheduled to be transferred to isolation hospitals. One uninfected individual is currently under self-quarantine.
