Gurye-gun Designated as Sexual Violence Intensive Psychological Clinic Center This Year
Specialized Sexual Violence Counseling Support, Dedicated Response Team Formation
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yuk Mi-seok] The Jeonnam Gurye-gun (Governor Kim Soon-ho) Youth Counseling Welfare Center announced on the 29th that it has been selected as a Sexual Violence Intensive Psychological Clinic Center for active intervention in high-risk youth issues, a project sponsored by the Korea Youth Counseling & Welfare Institute under the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family.
With this project selection, the county youth counseling welfare center will be able to provide systematic and professional counseling support by applying the evidence-based practice (EBP) sexual violence counseling operation model and manual developed by the Korea Youth Counseling & Welfare Institute to help the psychological stability and recovery of youth victims of sexual violence.
In response to high-risk situations such as sexual violence, a crisis case management response team will be formed, and efforts will be made to verify the effectiveness of counseling programs and establish counseling models.
Among 235 youth counseling welfare centers nationwide, 17 centers were selected for this year’s ‘Sexual Violence Intensive Psychological Clinic Center’ project. Among the 23 city and county youth counseling welfare centers in Jeonnam, a total of three centers were selected: Jeonnam Provincial Youth Counseling Welfare Center, Gurye-gun Youth Counseling Welfare Center, and Goheung-gun Youth Counseling Welfare Center.
The county youth counseling welfare center operates the Community Youth Integrated Support System (cys-net) to promote the healthy growth of high-risk youth facing difficulties at home, school, and society, and provides crisis youth counseling and support services together with Youth Phone 1388.

Kim Soon-ho, Governor of Gurye-gun, stated, “Recently, there have been many social issues related to sexual matters, and the support performance for counseling services related to sexual violence victims has increased by 26% compared to 2018, emerging as a serious problem. We hope to contribute to psychological support and prevention for youth victims of sexual violence by providing prompt and professional help.”
