View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Hapcheon-gun, Gyeongnam announced on the 29th that it held a public hearing at the 3rd-floor auditorium of the Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, hosted by the Gun Safety General Division, to gather various opinions on the ‘Hapcheon-gun Comprehensive Plan for Natural Disaster Reduction (Draft).’
This draft is the highest-level plan in the field of natural disaster prevention and is a mid- to long-term statutory plan that includes minimizing risks to local residents from natural disasters and setting directions for disaster prevention policies over the next 10 years. Since August 2017, Yushin Co., Ltd. has been conducting research services for this plan.
According to the guidelines, investigations on the status of disasters for eight types of natural disasters, related plan surveys, preliminary candidate site selection, hazardous area candidate selection, field surveys, and risk factor analysis are carried out.
The Gun Safety General Division conducted the following at this public hearing: ▲ Investigation of the implementation status of previously established hazardous area projects ▲ Selection of natural disaster hazardous areas (108 locations) ▲ Establishment of measures to reduce risks in natural disaster hazardous areas ▲ Formulation of implementation plans for natural disaster risk reduction measures.
In addition, experts from various fields participated in discussions, and local residents and officials from towns and townships attended to provide diverse and broad opinions.

They announced that after reflecting the opinions presented at this public hearing, the final draft will be prepared and, following procedures such as consultation with Gyeongsangnam-do Province and approval from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, it will be finalized and announced within this year.
