View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-seop] The Korea Deposit Insurance Corporation (KDIC) announced on the 29th that it will launch a 'mobile notification service' from April, allowing users to check bankruptcy dividends of failed financial companies via mobile devices.
When a financial company goes bankrupt, KDIC has been liquidating the remaining assets of the bankruptcy estate and paying bankruptcy dividends to depositors in cash. Individuals had to access the KDIC's unclaimed funds system or use postal notifications and newspaper advertisements to confirm their bankruptcy dividends.
Starting next month, KDIC will collaborate with telecommunications companies to verify depositors' latest mobile phone numbers and directly notify them of their bankruptcy dividend holdings via mobile. This is because a significant number of depositors do not claim their bankruptcy dividends due to reasons such as lost contact or changes in receiving accounts.
KDIC expects the notification target to expand significantly to socially vulnerable groups such as those with unknown addresses and the elderly.
