KT&G Scholarship Foundation, Recruiting '2021 University Sangsang Scholars'
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-sun] The KT&G Scholarship Foundation is recruiting '2021 University Sangsang Scholarship Students' for low-income college students until the 7th of next month.
The recruitment target is students enrolled in domestic universities (4-year universities and junior colleges) who are basic livelihood security recipients or belong to the lower-income bracket. A total of 200 students will be selected, and each will receive 3 million KRW. The results will be announced on the 22nd.
A KT&G Scholarship Foundation official stated, “We launched this ‘University Sangsang Scholarship’ recruitment to resolve educational disparities and provide stable educational opportunities to marginalized groups,” adding, “We will continue to carry out scholarship projects to nurture future outstanding talents.”
Meanwhile, the KT&G Scholarship Foundation has been conducting the ‘Sangsang Scholarship Project’ since 2011 to support marginalized groups in education and foster future talents. Every year, they select scholarship students from middle school, high school, and university levels to help them continue their learning opportunities. In particular, through the ‘University Sangsang Scholarship Project,’ a total of 667 university students have benefited up to last year.

Earlier, in January, the KT&G Scholarship Foundation donated 200 million KRW to the Korea Student Aid Foundation to provide scholarships to children of unemployed families attending university. Last year, to help small business owners struggling due to COVID-19, they provided approximately 1.7 billion KRW in scholarships to children of small business owners.
