Earlier, Seok (48), the biological mother of the deceased girl, had been suspected of swapping the missing girl with the deceased girl, who was actually the child of her eldest daughter, Kim (22). As the police detected circumstances indicating the children were switched, the investigation to find Kim's daughter, who had gone missing, is expected to gain momentum.
The Gumi Police Department, investigating the case, announced on the 26th that Seok's biological daughter was swapped with Kim's biological daughter at an obstetrics and gynecology clinic in Gumi. According to the police, the two children were switched before the newborn blood test.
The police inferred this fact through the child's blood type. The clinic records showed Kim's child's blood type as type A, which is impossible considering the blood types of Kim and her ex-husband, Hong. In other words, Seok may have secretly brought her own newborn to the clinic before the blood type test was conducted.
Additionally, the police stated that they received notification from the National Forensic Service (NFS) through not only blood type but also genetic (DNA) testing that this child was not the offspring of Kim and Hong. The NFS reported that the DNA and blood type test results of the deceased girl and the couple Kim and Hong were "inconsistent."
Putting these pieces of information together, it is highly likely that Seok swapped her own child with Kim's child at this obstetrics and gynecology clinic.

The first person to report the incident was Seok, and the police who responded to the call regarded Kim, Seok's eldest daughter, as the biological mother of the deceased girl, charging her with child abuse resulting in death and detaining her for investigation.
However, after DNA testing, results showed that Seok, not Kim, was likely the mother of the deceased girl, leading the case into an unexpected phase. Notably, Kim had given birth to a daughter around the same time as Seok in 2018. This led to speculation that Seok might have swapped her daughter with Kim's daughter.
Seok has consistently denied giving birth during police investigations. On the 17th, while being transferred to the Daegu District Prosecutors' Office Kimcheon Branch, she suddenly appealed to the press asking, "When I say it's not me, please believe my sincerity," in response to a question about whether she thought the DNA test results were wrong.

A National Forensic Service official recently emphasized in an interview with 'Yonhap News' that "in this case (Seok's case), the probability of parentage with the deceased girl is over 99.9999%."
Furthermore, police investigations revealed that Seok had searched numerous childbirth-related terms such as 'preparing for childbirth' and 'self-delivery' on her mobile phone around the time her delivery was imminent in 2018.
Meanwhile, to find clear evidence of Seok's pregnancy and childbirth, since the 19th, investigators have been conducting raids at over 170 obstetrics and gynecology clinics in Daegu, Gumi, Kimcheon, and Chilgok areas.
