[Profile] Jo Kyung-sik, 2nd Vice Minister of Science and ICT, a Veteran Official in 'Broadcasting and Telecommunications Policy'
[Asia Economy Reporter Joselgina] Cho Kyung-sik, the newly appointed 2nd Vice Minister of the Ministry of Science and ICT, is a seasoned bureaucrat who has long been in charge of information and communication and broadcasting policies.
Born in 1963, Vice Minister Cho graduated from Paichai High School in Seoul and earned a degree in Business Administration from Korea University. He also holds a master's degree in Public Policy from the Graduate School of International Policy at the Korea Development Institute (KDI) and a master's degree in Financial Management from Michigan State University in the United States.
He began his public service career by passing the 34th Administrative Examination in 1990 and has served as Director of the Information Security Industry Division, Director of the Information Utilization Promotion Division, Head of the Telecommunications Competition Policy Team, and Head of the Telecommunications and Broadcasting Policy General Team at the Ministry of Information and Communication.
At the Korea Communications Commission, he served as Director of the Radio Planning Division, Director of Planning and Finance, and Spokesperson. During his time at the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning, he held positions such as Policy Planning Officer, Spokesperson, and Director of the Broadcasting Promotion Policy Bureau. Later, he served as Director of the Broadcasting Promotion Policy Bureau at the Ministry of Science and ICT, Secretary-General of the Korea Communications Commission, and Standing Auditor of the Educational Broadcasting System (EBS). Since last year, he has been serving as the Digital Innovation Secretary at the Presidential Policy Office.
