Samsung Develops 5G Network SoC with US-based Marvell
[Asia Economy Reporter Seulgina Jo] Samsung Electronics has partnered with U.S. semiconductor company Marvell to develop a new system-on-chip (SoC) aimed at improving 5G network performance. It is scheduled for release in the second quarter.
On the 25th (local time), Samsung Electronics announced through its English newsroom that it has jointly developed an SoC with U.S. Marvell Technology Group for use in large-scale base stations. The new SoC features reduced power consumption and size while expanding capacity and coverage. It supports both 5G and 4G simultaneously and can reduce chipset power consumption by up to 70% compared to existing solutions.
Lee Junhee, Vice President of Samsung Electronics’ Network Business Division, said, "We are pleased to unveil a new SoC that combines the innovative strengths of both companies through collaboration with Marvell to advance 5G network solutions," adding, "We look forward to introducing this solution to the market soon." The release is planned for the second quarter.
