Expectations for Creating a Dementia-Friendly Environment
[Hampyeong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kim Chunsu] Hampyeong County in Jeonnam announced on the 26th that, together with the Hampyeong Police Station, it conducted a promotional campaign for the Dementia Partner and missing dementia elderly prevention project in front of eight middle and high schools in the area during school hours under the slogan "Happy Because You Are Here! Dementia Partner."
This campaign was organized to provide accurate information about dementia through the Dementia Safety Center project introduction, early dementia screening project, dementia awareness improvement, and dementia counseling hotline promotion, aiming to improve negative perceptions and foster dementia partners. It was carried out over four days from the 22nd to the 25th.
A Dementia Partner refers to a companion who helps dementia patients and their families in daily life based on an understanding of dementia. Those who complete Dementia Partner training can volunteer as 'Dementia Partner Plus' to support dementia patients and their families.
In addition, the county plans to provide education to local residents on ▲Understanding Dementia ▲Improving Dementia Awareness ▲Dementia Prevention Guidelines ▲Roles and Activities of Dementia Partners (Plus), and, in cooperation with the Hampyeong Police Station, will also undertake pre-registration of fingerprints and distribution of wandering detection devices to prevent missing dementia elderly.
