Incheon Coupang Delivery Driver Death... Coupang "On 2nd Day of Delivery Work, Signs of Heart Abnormality"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bo-kyung] A delivery driver affiliated with the online shopping mall Coupang has died once again. Coupang stated, "It was the second day since he was assigned to delivery duties," and "The health checkup results showed abnormal findings related to the heart."
On the 24th, a resident found Coupang delivery driver Mr. A (42) unconscious and collapsed in an alley of a residential area in Gyesan-dong, Incheon. He was found about 50 meters away from the Coupang delivery vehicle he was driving.
Mr. A was transported to the hospital by the 119 emergency medical team who responded to the report but ultimately passed away. It was confirmed that Mr. A had no significant external injuries.
On the 25th, Coupang released a statement expressing, "We extend our deepest condolences and sympathy to the deceased and the bereaved family," and "We will actively cooperate in the process of confirming the cause of death and spare no effort or support to ease the family's pain."
However, Coupang explained, "The deceased was on his second day of delivery duties after joining the company, and following a health checkup conducted after joining, abnormal heart-related findings were detected, and additional examinations were underway."
They added, "The exact cause of death has not yet been determined, and the company is doing its best to cooperate," and requested, "Please refrain from reporting any presumptions or one-sided claims regarding the unfortunate death."
