Gwangsan-gu Dementia Safety Center in Gwangju Operates 'Online Happy Memory School'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 24th that it is implementing non-face-to-face dementia management services in response to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
Dementia can be prevented and its progression slowed down through proper management.
However, since 2017, dementia management services provided by local dementia safety centers have been suspended due to COVID-19.
With the resumption of the project, the Gwangsan-gu Dementia Management Center plans to offer the non-face-to-face program "Happy Memory School" again from October last year for high-risk groups and dementia patients.
"Happy Memory School" is conducted separately for high-risk groups and dementia patients, providing cognitive training, physical activities, art, horticulture, cooking therapy, and cognitive games through video conferencing programs.
The high-risk group attends 8 sessions, while dementia patients attend 16 sessions.
The Gwangsan-gu Dementia Safety Center sends staff to participants for assessments and education, and delivers educational kits.
Additionally, videos introducing dementia prevention and management methods are uploaded on YouTube to support repeated learning for patients, high-risk groups, and their families.
By searching "Gwangsan-gu Dementia Safety Center" on YouTube, related videos can be viewed.
To use "Happy Memory School," consultation, assessment, and judgment by the Gwangsan-gu Dementia Safety Center are required. For more details, contact the Gwangsan-gu Dementia Management Center for guidance.
