"This Class, Dream or Reality?" Gyeongnam Jeongbo University Launches Immersive 'VR Classes' in the Untact Era
VR Content Brings the Field into the 'Classroom'... Innovative Teaching Methods Prompted by COVID-19 Draw Attention
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] “Hey, is this a real class or a dream?”
Reality and virtual reality pour into the ‘classroom’ indistinguishably. There is no need to question whether this classroom came through the hallway or is floating in a virtual world. Students just need to think they are attending a real class and focus. This is the so-called ‘VR professor’ appearing on the podium.
Gyeongnam Information University (President Chu Man-seok) developed VR (Virtual Reality)-based content and introduced it into classes to reduce the gap between online and on-site practice in the untact era.
The VR content, created as part of the application of new teaching methods, is developed in three types to shorten practice time and improve practical skills, and is being applied in classes.
The VR content used by Gyeongnam Information University in the first semester of 2021 is attracting attention.
▲ The Department of Interior Design introduced VR for customized space planning and construction process education.
▲ The Department of Fire Safety Management launched VR for practical training in fire electrical and mechanical facility management.
▲ The Department of Dental Hygiene is conducting classes for five subjects using a total of three VR contents, including customized oral radiography practice training VR.
Oh Seong-jin, head of the Department of Interior Design, which developed and is utilizing the VR system, proudly said, “Students can access the VR system anytime and anywhere without restrictions of time and space, and can freely practice various cases according to construction methods and materials.”
