Customized Health Tips from a Korean Medicine Doctor 'Seocho SingleTalk'
Health Tips Videos Provided Twice Monthly via YouTube Channel...Useful Series on Proper Eating Habits for Single-Person Households, Self Health Checks, Self Emergency Care, and Real-Time Interaction via ZOOM
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] #A, a young single-person household living in Banpo-dong, feels lonely and depressed as social distancing has been prolonged due to COVID-19, preventing him from meeting friends and forcing him to eat quickly while preparing for employment.
#B, living in Yangjae-dong, recently felt anxious about the rapidly increasing weight from eating only instant and delivery food. Although he searched the internet for health management methods that do not necessarily require exercise, he only found countless advertisements.
As social distancing has been prolonged due to the impact of COVID-19, the number of people feeling isolated and depressed is increasing. In particular, single-person households not only find it difficult to manage their physical health but are also relatively more likely to experience psychological shrinkage compared to those in multi-person households.
The Seocho Single-Person Household Support Center plans to actively promote projects that support single-person households in taking care of both their physical and mental health through various policies.
The Seocho Single-Person Household Support Center (hereafter the Center) will produce health knowledge videos twice a month starting in March and provide them through the YouTube channel ‘Seocho SingleTalk.’
The video production will be done in collaboration with the ‘Seocho Korean Medicine Association (President Hwang Manki),’ which has expertise in health and medicine.
The main content will focus on precautions and preventive measures for diseases that single-person households may often experience, emphasizing prevention through lifestyle improvements rather than treatment.
Also, to make it easier for the primary viewers?single-person households?to understand, difficult medical terms will be avoided as much as possible, and real-time communication via ‘ZOOM’ will be continued. To promote interactive communication, Korean medicine doctors will respond to comments left by subscribers and viewers, and gifts will be provided through a lottery.
Additionally, in April, a YouTube video titled ‘How far have you tried eating alone?’ will be produced to give a glimpse into the solo dining life of single-person households, aiming to create a channel that empathizes with their lifestyle.
Meanwhile, the Center has also been promoting the ‘Solo Dining Project’ for single-person households. About 70 restaurants with environments suitable for ‘solo dining’ have been selected as ‘Solo Restaurants,’ and support such as single-person tableware sets, spoon packaging paper, and eco-friendly tray paper has been provided. During the last Lunar New Year, the Solo Restaurants delivered hearty rice cake soup with dumplings and pancakes to 400 middle-aged and young single-person households living in goshiwons, helping to care for their health.
Furthermore, the Center has been running the ‘Seoripul Health 119’ primary care service for single-person households and the ‘Seoripul Counselor’ project, which soothes the minds of solo dwellers and provides expert counseling in various fields, always being there when they are physically or mentally struggling.
The district and the Center plan to go beyond health and mental care by establishing regional cultural platforms where single-person households can meet, experience, and share culture, and to carry out various projects for single-person households.
