25 Elevators Stopped in Newly Built Apartment in Gangdong-gu, Seoul... 14 Residents Rescued
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chunhan] On the 23rd at around 5:30 PM, a total of 25 elevators across 10 buildings in a newly constructed apartment complex in Gangdong-gu, Seoul, stopped for about 40 minutes.
According to the fire department, 14 residents were trapped due to the incident but were all rescued by the fire authorities and apartment management office staff around 6:13 PM. There were no injuries.

An official from the apartment management office explained that there was a temporary power outage at the time of the accident. The official stated, "Since move-in began on January 15, there have already been four incidents of people being trapped due to elevator malfunctions."
