Mokpo City Holds Resource Incineration Facility Briefing Session with Priority on Resident Communication
On the 25th, Strategic Environmental Impact Assessment Introduction at Citizen Culture and Sports Center
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seunghyun Jeong] Mokpo City will hold a residents' briefing session on the draft strategic environmental impact assessment report for the resource recovery (incineration) facility at 2 p.m. on the 25th in the small performance hall of the Citizen Culture and Sports Center.
Through this briefing session, the city intends to explain the draft prepared by verifying the compliance with the environmental conservation plan for more than 10 items of the strategic environmental impact assessment disclosed last January.
The strategic environmental impact assessment is a system conducted under the Environmental Impact Assessment Act to review whether a plan that affects the environment is appropriate and reasonable from an environmental perspective when establishing the plan.
It introduces not only the degree of air pollution, odor generation, and emission of harmful substances but also harmful environment reduction measures focusing on minimizing environmental damage.
A city official said, “In the future, we plan to collect residents' opinions as well as receive opinions from related agencies including the Yeongsangang River Basin Environmental Office, which is the consultation agency for the strategic environmental impact assessment, and Jeollanam-do, Sinan-gun, and Muan-gun, which are included in the evaluation scope of the resource recovery facility according to relevant laws, and disclose the results and whether they are reflected.”
The draft strategic environmental impact assessment report can be checked until the 9th of next month at the Mokpo City Resource Circulation Division, the relevant departments of Muan and Sinan counties, and the Environmental Impact Assessment Information Support System (eiass.go.kr).

After reviewing, opinions on environmental impact and environmental conservation measures can be submitted to the Mokpo City Resource Circulation Division and the Environmental Impact Assessment Information Support System by the 16th of next month.
