Oh Se-hoon and Ahn Cheol-soo Lead Park Young-sun by a Wide Margin Regardless of Who Runs

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ji-hee] A poll released on the 22nd showed that whether Oh Se-hoon, the People Power Party candidate for Seoul mayor, or Ahn Cheol-soo, the People Party candidate, runs as the unified candidate, they both significantly lead Park Young-sun, the Democratic Party candidate.
According to a survey conducted by polling firm Ipsos (IPSOS) commissioned by JoongAng Ilbo from the 19th to 20th among 1,002 residents of Seoul aged 18 and older, if Ahn becomes the unified opposition candidate, he leads Park with 52.3% support compared to Park's 35.6%, a 16.7 percentage point gap. If Oh becomes the unified candidate, he leads Park with 50.6% support versus Park's 36.8%, a 13.8 percentage point lead.
In the same survey conducted earlier on the 5th and 6th, Ahn and Oh led by 7.5 and 3.7 percentage points respectively, indicating the gap has widened over two weeks.
In a three-way race, Park had 32.9%, Oh had 32.3%, showing a close contest. Ahn's support was 23.2%.
Meanwhile, a poll conducted by Realmeter commissioned by JTBC from the 20th to 21st among 1,007 Seoul residents aged 18 and older confirmed a stronger opposition presence. In a three-way race, Oh and Ahn showed a close contest with 35.5% and 31.2% respectively. Park trailed in third place with 28% support. In a two-way race, 53.4% said they would vote for Oh, while 31.4% supported Park.
