Sang-ik Lee, Hampyeong County Governor, Initiates 'Dialogue with Residents' Using Drive-in Theater
Starting from the morning of the 22nd in Hampyeong-eup, a four-day event will take place
[Hampyeong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Hampyeong County in Jeonnam has communicated with residents by holding the 'Dialogue with Residents,' which could not be held for the past two years due to COVID-19, in a non-face-to-face format for the first time nationwide at the Hampyeong Drive-in Theater.
According to the county on the 22nd, a four-day non-face-to-face dialogue with residents will be held from that day until the 25th to share past achievements with residents and announce the county administration plans for the remaining term.
During the dialogue with Hampyeong-eup residents held from 9:45 a.m. that day, National Assembly member Lee Gae-ho, Hampyeong County Mayor Lee Sang-ik, Hampyeong County Council Chairman Kim Hyung-mo and council members, Jeonnam Provincial Assembly members representing Hampyeong, and about 200 residents riding in approximately 70 vehicles gathered together.
Due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic making face-to-face events difficult, the event was conducted in a non-face-to-face manner using the multi-purpose stage of the Hampyeong Drive-in Theater instead of the existing town and township tour method, reporting on major projects and listening to the development direction of Hampyeong County and residents' difficulties.
The dialogue with residents allows residents to participate in the form of watching a movie at the drive-in theater with a maximum of four people per car, and it is held in three sessions per day.
At the dialogue with Hampyeong-eup residents presided over directly by Mayor Lee, six proposals were presented, including preparations for festivals to revitalize the local economy (preparations for the 2024 Expo), relocation of the eup office building, installation of a roundabout at the intersection in front of Hampyeong Hakdari High School, maintenance of sidewalks and pavement blocks in the center of Hampyeong-eup, utilization of the former Jagwang Daycare Center site and securing parking lots, and installation of a roundabout at the Dong Hampyeong TG intersection.
Mayor Lee Sang-ik said, "Thank you for conveying the vivid voices from the field of people's livelihoods and for thinking together about the future of Hampyeong County," adding, "We will review residents' proposals and concerns as positively as possible and reflect them in the county administration."
