Busan Office of Education Opens Two 'Uri Dongne Jaramteo' Centers to Expand Out-of-School Care
Full-scale Operation of Yongho Comprehensive Social Welfare Center and Gammandong Happy Library Starting March
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Kim Seok-jun) will open two "Uri Dongne Jaramteo" locations in the Nam-gu area, where demand for childcare is rapidly increasing, on March 24 and 31.
"Uri Dongne Jaramteo" is a new childcare service model in Busan that has been established since 2018 in idle spaces of public institutions and apartments to expand out-of-school childcare, and it has a very high satisfaction rate among parents.
The "Jaramteo" locations opening this time are at Yongho Comprehensive Social Welfare Center and Gammandong Happy Library.
Including these, the number of "Uri Dongne Jaramteo" locations will increase to nine, incorporating seven currently operating sites: Myeongji Geukdong Star Class Apartment, Myeongji Einstein Jaramteo, Busan I-Mom Art Psychological Counseling Center, Jeonggwan Dongil Suite 2nd Apartment, Jeonggwan Easy The One 5th Apartment, Hwamyung Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, and Busanjin-gu Youth Culture Center.
Among these Jaramteo locations, the one inside Yongho Comprehensive Social Welfare Center will hold its opening ceremony at 2 p.m. on March 24, and the one inside Gammandong Happy Library will hold its opening ceremony at 3 p.m. on March 31, starting full operation thereafter.
During the school term, Jaramteo operates for students needing care until 7 p.m. after school, and during vacations, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Students participate in creative, physical, sensory, arts and sports, and play activity programs here, and receive safe and high-quality childcare services including reading guidance, counseling, and safety education.
It is expected that the childcare burden for parents in Yongho-dong and Gammandong areas will be greatly reduced.
