[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Son Seon-hee] Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun said on the 21st, "The COVID-19 Vaccination Expert Committee thoroughly reviewed overseas evaluation results and domestic adverse reaction cases, and once again confirmed that there is no problem with the safety of the AstraZeneca vaccine."
On the afternoon of the same day, Prime Minister Chung presided over the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters meeting at the Government Seoul Office and said, "The detailed review results and recommendations of the Vaccination Expert Committee will be reported to the public tomorrow (22nd)."
Earlier, the European Medicines Agency (EMA) officially announced after expert verification that "there is no scientific causality between the vaccine and thrombosis," and the World Health Organization (WHO) also recommended continuing the administration of the AstraZeneca vaccine without interruption. Prime Minister Chung repeatedly appealed, "Trust the scientific verification results both domestically and internationally, and actively participate in vaccination according to the government's recommendations for public safety."

Regarding the recent controversy over human rights violations when the Seoul Metropolitan Government attempted to enforce an administrative order mandating COVID-19 diagnostic testing for foreigners, Prime Minister Chung said, "As the head of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters, I regret that a controversy over human rights violations and discrimination arose regarding quarantine measures," and added, "We will take this incident as a lesson and implement quarantine measures with sensitivity and acceptability from the perspective of the recipients."
