According to Daegu City on the 19th, as of midnight, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Daegu increased by five from the previous day to 8,762 (162 imported cases). By district of residence, there were 3 in Buk-gu, 1 in Dalseo-gu, and 1 in Suseong-gu.
Among the additional confirmed cases, one is Daegu City Council member Hwang Soon-ja, who was notified of her positive diagnosis early the previous day. She attended the opening ceremony of the 281st extraordinary session on the 16th and underwent testing on the 17th after developing symptoms such as fever.
Thirteen Daegu city officials, including Mayor Kwon Young-jin, who attended the extraordinary session on the 16th, were tested following Council member Hwang’s positive diagnosis, and all tested negative.
All four local infection cases, including Council member Hwang, have unknown infection routes. The remaining one case is an imported case from Bangladesh.
