This Year’s Public SW, ICT, and Information Security Project Funding Increases by 13.6%
[Asia Economy Reporter Seulgina Jo] The scale of software (SW), ICT equipment, and information security projects promoted in the public sector showed double-digit growth for two consecutive years.
The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on the 18th that it will hold the 2021 public sector SW·ICT equipment·information security demand forecast (final) online briefing session on the 19th.
According to the survey, this year the total confirmed project amount for public sector SW·ICT equipment is 5.747 trillion KRW, an increase of 13.6% compared to the previous year. Specifically, ▲ SW construction 4.3111 trillion KRW (+14.7%) ▲ commercial SW purchase 365.2 billion KRW (+13.7%) ▲ ICT equipment 1.0707 trillion KRW (+9.4%).
Among these, the project amount including information security-related content totaled 1.2456 trillion KRW, an increase of 51.4% compared to one year ago. The investment and purchase budget related to information security within the relevant projects was surveyed at 693.9 billion KRW.
The online briefing session can be accessed through Naver TV, Kakao TV, and YouTube, and the results announced this time are provided through the SW Industry Information Comprehensive System (www.swit.or.kr), ICT Equipment Public Demand Information System (kcnb.iitp.kr), and Information Security Industry Promotion Portal (www.ksecurity.or.kr).

The SW and ICT industries, which have faced many difficulties due to COVID-19 over the past year, can gain vitality based on this,” adding, “We will strive to ensure the on-site establishment of the Software Promotion Act, which has been fully revised for the first time in 20 years, so that the SW and ICT industries can continue to grow and receive fair value.”
