Kakao Mobility Acquires Rental Car Brokerage Company 'Dealka'
[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] Kakao Mobility, which operates the taxi brokerage platform 'KakaoT,' is acquiring 'Dealka,' a rental car brokerage company owned by Hyundai Capital.
According to industry sources on the 18th, Kakao Mobility signed a business transfer agreement for the acquisition of Dealka the day before. The acquisition amount is approximately 8 billion KRW.
Dealka was established as a Company-in-Company (CIC) within Hyundai Capital and is the third-largest company in the car-sharing industry. Unlike Socar and Green Car, which purchase vehicles directly, it operates by partnering with existing small and medium-sized rental car companies.
With this acquisition, Kakao Mobility is expected to expand into the car-sharing business and further into the rental car business, which rents vehicles on a daily basis. In fact, Kakao Mobility added 'car rental and leasing business' to its corporate business objectives in its articles of incorporation last April.
