GKL Signs Industry-Academic Cooperation Agreement with Tourism-Related Universities and High Schools
[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] Grand Korea Leisure (GKL) announced on the 17th that it has signed an industry-academia cooperation agreement with three tourism-related universities and 32 high schools for curriculum development and talent cultivation.
The signing ceremony was held online to prevent the resurgence of COVID-19. With this agreement, GKL has now established industry-academia cooperation agreements with 75 universities and 32 high schools.
The main contents of the agreement include ▲ sharing and operating online video courses ▲ developing curricula and sharing related educational facilities ▲ joint efforts on field training and job education ▲ efforts for knowledge and information exchange and mutual growth ▲ and other industry-academia cooperation projects.
Through this agreement, GKL will dispatch in-house job instructors to schools facing educational gaps due to COVID-19, especially tourism high schools and high schools operating special classes for multicultural families, to operate educational programs. Additionally, GKL’s Talent Development Institute plans to continuously provide online educational materials and talent cultivation platform courses developed in-house, as well as support educational equipment.
Yoo Tae-yeol, President of GKL, stated, “Although the entire tourism industry is facing unprecedented difficulties due to COVID-19, we hope this agreement will help students grow into future tourism talents and contribute to the re-advancement of K-tourism.” He added, “As a public tourism corporation, GKL will continue its efforts to realize social value through education and create youth jobs.”
Previously, in September 2019, GKL developed an NCS-based online curriculum independently and provided it free of charge to tourism-related universities and industry workers at the '2019 Best HRD Certification Ceremony' hosted by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Personnel Management. Recognized for its efforts and achievements in human resource development in the tourism industry, GKL was selected as the best institution in the public sector.
