POSCO Energy, Recruiting 11th Hope Energy University Student Volunteer Group
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] POSCO Energy is recruiting the 11th class of the university student volunteer group 'Hope Energy.'
POSCO Energy has been promoting various social contribution activities targeting local communities where its power plants are located to practice its management philosophy of 'Corporate Citizenship Growing Together.'
In particular, it operates the university student volunteer group, where university students serve as mentors for children at local community centers, as one of its representative projects.
Since its founding in 2013 with the 1st class, the 'Hope Energy' university student volunteer group has supported 'visiting learning guidance' for children at community centers in Seo-gu, Incheon, and special activities such as music and art utilizing the talents of volunteer members. Especially in 2020, when face-to-face activities became difficult due to COVID-19, it collaborated with LG Uplus to conduct non-face-to-face mentoring activities using smart pads, which became one of the most eagerly awaited activities by children at community centers. To date, about 450 university students have participated in 19,797 hours of volunteer work. The total number of beneficiary children is 2,344.
The 11th class of the Hope Energy university student volunteer group selected this time will be active for about seven months from May to November. As COVID-19 is expected to continue this year, learning guidance and emotional mentoring activities will be conducted mainly online. If the social distancing level due to COVID-19 is lowered, various activities such as special activities (table tennis, baseball, art, etc.), job experience education, and talent volunteering with POSCO Energy and LG Uplus employees will be carried out.
